I did these when I was studying art history in Malta. I had to build a chicken wall/concrete portable wall, to practice fresco on. It’s a lot like painting in watercolor, actually. Both done from pictures of beautiful girls I knew there.

It’s almost 2009. I’ve cleaned out the small room I’m setting up as a studio, it’s nice to have some space to paint. I broke out the gear but have been busy; next week I’ll get on schedule. I started to redo ‘Crucifix’, because it’s a signature piece and I sold it already. I also started another portrait of Funky and am working on ‘evangelicals’… which, because I’m doing it from very poor photos and without a clear scheme, may never look as good as it should.

Here are two old portraits I did about 8 years ago. Both from photos I’ve taken, in Malta and the Middle East.

I met this artist in Portland’s Saturday market. These pictures don’t do her work justice: she has a really unique style that I love! I hope to buy one of her paintings sometime. I love it here. This week I’m focusing on cleaning my house, decorating and buying new furniture, and setting up my living space so that it is comfortable and inspiring. This will include finally getting my studio space cleaned out and organized – which means I can get back to painting! I have a lot to do, and a lot of canvases I’m working on for the exhibition this spring.
