How to Sell Fake Art on Ebay
I love this site:
http://www.artbusiness.com/faketutorial.html
It describes, nonchalantly, how to rip off losers by selling fake art on ebay.com. “Felony has never been easier.” Check out the section on forging signatures.
I only bring it up because myself, along with the entire world, is losing its grip on the concept of art. “Art” is what’s famous, what is recognizable, has a namebrand or well-known personality behind it, and is in galleries. Everything else is “failed art”, or “just a hobby”. My paintings, as I’ve not yet taken up the guerrilla marketing tactics to land me in the rosy meadow of big white walls and steep commissions, is unfortunately still just a hobby. Even more unfortunately, although I consider myself the greatest living artistic genius on the planet, is the fact that I’m considering selling my art cheap on ebay just to get someone to look at them.
Once upon a time everybody worked for a living and the amount of people who could afford to dabble with paints were few – leading to moderately easy fame and fortune. Now there are millions. Everyone I know is an artist, craftsmen, or painter. Are my works special? Are anybody’s?
