Boy Trouble
I started this one based on a painting I did in Malta – one of my favorites, that got sold before I took quality pictures of it. It was called “ManDress” – the idea being that she’s wearing men like a dress.
I think, however, I’ll call this one “Boy Trouble.”
Although I’d planned on taking the long, slow route, I just couldn’t make myself wait through the underpainting stages (so impatient); plus, I’m pretty sure there’s a way to paint very nice, smooth, 3D skin tones in one pass – I’ve done it before, just not consistently. This one worked out great however. Outline in thick, dark paint, build up the highlights in the middle before the paint dries. It may not be as life-like as a photograph, but for my style of painting and subject matter, I think it works really well.
Now for the real question – should I paint her barefoot, or in some classy red heels?
