Almost done!
I stayed home all week during my Spring break and watched movies…I also did a bit of painting. I’m surprised at how quickly I’ve been able to finish this – I’m down to the itty-bitty but fundamental details – the reflection of light in the pupils, on the wine glasses and silverware. This is where pedantic and tedious caution really makes a realistic painting. Unfortunately, I’m more of a “slab some paint around” kind of guy, and this part is hard for me. I’m much more comfortable with the portrait I’m working on – much bigger shapes and color areas, really strong contrast blocks…its been fun to do.
I’ve had insomnia for the past 3 days and am sneaking through classes on only a couple of hours of sleep. I’m also worrying about my artistic career – how do people make it big these days with a billion other eager artists? I’ve thought about selling on ebay…just to get the name-recognition and awareness. It seems “cheap and dirty” somehow…but then there are works of art selling on ebay for hundreds of thousands…it’s a new world.
